Army News

I suppose now is as good of time as any to give you all an update as to Michael's military status. Didn't know you needed to be updated? Well go ahead and add yourself to the list of "shocked" folks including myself.

The news: he has been put on orders to be mobilized (meaning put back on active duty).

What this means is that he is back to being a soldier per the Army's demand. He will NOT be going overseas at this point and for that we are very thankful. He will however not be with us here at home. He is being sent to a new reserve unit that is home stationed in Louisiana. From there, he is being put on mobilization orders to serve 12 months at Fort Benning, Georgia. He will be a unit commander (again).

None of this is coming at a good time as he has to be in Lousiana for duty on July 1st...and I will be having our 3rd daughter on July 7th.

I know some of you might have some questions. I am more than happy to answer them if I can.
1. No, we don't know if he will be with me when I give birth yet.
2. We don't know if or when he will be able to take a few days to come home after her birth.
3. We don't have an address or phone number to reach him at.
4. Yes, we will have military health insurance but that is a train wreck in and of itself & we are trying to get that handled.
5. No, we have not told Elyse yet. We are being proactive in the matter and will be seeing a specialist this week to help guide us on how to handle that topic with her (as she is extremely attached to her daddy).
6. Yes, his civilian job knows and thus far they are working with him on the matter.
7. No, I do NOT know exactly how this will work being a single mother of 3 young daughters.
8. Yes, all of our family & friends are being nothing but supportive and although it will be a tough year, we will get through it.

That is the update. There are a number of other times that he has to be away for the preparation and it's definately not easy at all...so please keep us in your thoughts if you would.
